Esaunggul.ac.id, To improve the digital competence of educators in the era of educational transformation, Esa Unggul University organised a Community Service Programme (PKM) with the theme Training in Making Artificial Intelligence (AI)-Based Adaptive Teaching Materials. The programme, which runs from October 2024 to November 2025, aims to train teachers of SD Penggilingan 1 East Jakarta in developing AI-based interactive digital teaching materials.
The activity at SD Penggilingan 1 was led by Dr Irma Savitri Sadikin, M.Pd., together with a team of lecturers and students from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Esa Unggul University. The training aimed to teach teachers how to integrate AI technology in learning through various educational applications such as Canva, Flipping Book, Socrative, Baamboozle, Padlet, and Kahoot. Teachers were given intensive guidance in designing and implementing more engaging and interactive digital teaching materials in the classroom.
Previously, teachers at SD Penggilingan 1 faced major challenges related to limitations in utilising digital technology, despite the availability of basic facilities. Most teachers still rely on conventional methods in the learning process, with little integration of technology. This programme is here to address the technology gap in basic education, so that teachers can create more innovative and relevant learning.

The programme had a significant impact, with 90% of teachers feeling more confident in using AI technology to teach, while 85% of participants found the training very useful to improve their digital skills. In addition, teachers at SD Penggilingan 1 successfully developed more than 10 interactive digital teaching materials that are ready to be implemented in daily learning. The use of AI also allows teachers to analyse students’ learning patterns in real time and provide feedback faster, making the learning process more effective.
In addition to training teachers in the use of AI, the programme also aims to produce academic outputs, such as scientific publications in accredited national journals (Sinta 4), registration of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) for digital teaching materials, and the creation of scientific posters documenting the innovation and impact of this programme. Esa Unggul University is committed to providing long-term support so that teachers who have been trained can become mentors for their colleagues, as well as ensuring the application of this technology can take place sustainably in schools.
With the enthusiasm and positive results obtained from the implementation of this programme, it is hoped that the AI-based training model can be applied in other schools as part of innovation in technology-based learning. This programme not only strengthens teachers’ digital skills, but also plays a role in transforming basic education towards more interactive, modern and adaptable learning.
