Thermal Behavior and Corrosion Resistance of Fume-silica/Polyurethane Film

Description:

Hybrid materials Fume-silica/polyurethane film were prepared by varying fumed silica content in polyurethane as a matrix. The film were deposit on low carbon steel plate using High Volume Low Pressure (HVLP) method. Then the film were taken from substrate and then investigated by thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), salt spray test according to ASTM B-117 for 72 hours. TGA results confirmed the melting temperature shifted to a lower point and the chemical bonding of fume-silica in polyurethane were confirm from FTIR. The composite with different SiO2 content have more thermal stability than polyurethane without silica. PSiO2 1 seem the best corrosion resistance than the other samples.
