This meeting, attended by Mr. Charles Angliwarman’s wife, illustrated a joint effort in improving the economy around the super-premium destination of Labuan Bajo.
Also present at this meeting were the Deputy Dean of FEB Universitas Esa Unggul, Mr. Abdul Haeba Ramli, the Head of the UEU Cooperation Bureau, Mrs. Ayu Larasati, and the Head of the Accounting Study Program, Mr. Ickhsanto Wahyudi. The focus of the discussion was emphasized on involving sub-districts around Labuan Bajo so that the benefits of tourism can be felt more evenly, not only concentrated in Komodo District.
In an effort to support the growth of the tourism industry in Labuan Bajo, the Chairman of KADIN Manggarai Barat proposed an initiative to supply rice, fruits, fresh vegetables, and other local products. This step is expected to improve the welfare of local communities who act as providers of staples for the growing tourism industry.
The meeting culminated with the signing of the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) and Implementation Agreement (IA) between KADIN Manggarai Barat and FEB Universitas Esa Unggul. In his closing speech, Mr. Charles Angliwarman emphasized his hope that the development strategy involves the entire Manggarai region, with full support from national policy makers such as the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) and relevant departments, such as Agriculture.
Mr. Charles Angliwarman also highlighted the importance of empowering local products as hosts in their own place, by putting forward the premium rice products of West Manggarai Regency as one of the attractions of the local economy.
Not only that, in additional information, KADIN Manggarai Barat also revealed strategic cooperation with Timor Leste for premium rice production. This step reflects efforts to expand international cooperation networks, creating new opportunities for economic growth in both regions.
With the signing of this agreement, the collaboration between KADIN Manggarai Barat and FEB Universitas Esa Unggul is expected to create a real positive impact on economic growth and community welfare in Labuan Bajo and its surroundings.
