Esaunggul.ac.id, Using multimedia-based learning media is an easy breakthrough and contains interesting elements for teachers by utilizing digital technology. One of them is the use of video which has become a major component of the educational environment since the popularity of various video platforms, this can be seen from the increasing number of lessons from instructional videos either in the form of tutorials, live streaming podcasts or other videos that can be inserted as learning media, for example using the You channel Tubes.

If you look at the current age characteristics of students who are classified as Generation Net or Generation Z, it is very closely related to the use of digital technology in various aspects of life, including their learning activities.

The Head of the Community Service Team (PKM) Informatics Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Computer Science, Esa Unggul University, namely Diah Aryani said that “it is very important for teachers to adapt to new learning patterns that are supported by digital skills and the ability to present learning media by utilizing technology digital one of which is the ability to use multimedia-based learning videos to help reduce student boredom in learning.

Community Service Activities (Abdimas) at SMPIT Insan Rabbani Bekasi

Diah explained, Community Service Activities (Abdimas) at SMPIT Insan Rabbani Bekasi themed “Training in Making Multimedia-Based Learning Videos Using the Camtasia Application”, which aims to provide training in making multimedia-based learning videos as an effort to increase the knowledge and skills of teachers in making multimedia-based learning videos by utilizing the combination of images, sound or audio into a learning video contained in Camtasia application services.

Furthermore, Diah stated that this training activity was part of a community service activity carried out by the Esa Unggul University academic community (lecturers and several computer science faculty students) with participants including: Principal and SMPIT Insan Rabbani Teachers.

In detail, this activity is carried out in two stages offline and online, where the first stage is carried out offline to socialize the presentation of the Camtasia application material which is carried out at the SMPIT Insan Rabbani school then the second stage is online Camtasia application training/practice where at this stage, the implementation This community service activity is carried out by providing hands-on practice on how to create multimedia-based learning media with the Camtasia application online through the meets application. This activity took place from September to October 2022,” he added.

“The material presented in this training included explaining the Camtasia application which has two applications, namely an application that functions to record activities on the desktop screen called Camtasia Recorder and an application that functions to directly edit recordings directly using the Camtasia Recorder application. In addition, there are various functions of the Camtasia application which can be used to record all activities on a computer/laptop screen, create tutorial documentation, record gameplay, edit and make videos by providing attractive animations, supporting various video file formats, sharing or direct publication to YouTube and so on,” explained Diah Aryani.

Training on Making Multimedia-Based Learning Videos Using the Camtasia Application

The Camtasia Studio application does not require a server because it is not a server-based application program so it does not need to be connected to a server or the internet when making video recordings (recording) and is easy to use making it easier for teachers to make videos in a relatively short time, with the Camtasia Studio application being able to record web pages, applications, and others contained on the computer.

Diah also explained “during the implementation of this activity the teachers were very enthusiastic in participating in the introduction and training in making multimedia-based learning media so it is hoped that the results of this activity can increase new knowledge and skills for SMPIT Insan Rabbani teachers especially for the use of the Camtasia application to support the creation of learning media based on multimedia as an effort to carry out learning that is more interesting and effective as well as to motivate student interest and learning outcomes.
