Esaunggul.ac.id, Chairman of the Central Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI), Ubaidillah, M.Pd., was a guest speaker in a public lecture at BC Fair 2024. The event was themed ‘The Role of the Young Generation in Realising Healthy, Useful, and Dignified Indonesian Broadcasting’ and was held at the Kemala Ballroom of Universitas Esa Unggul, Monday (25/11/2024).
In this BC Fair 2024 event, Ubaidillah hopes that there will be an institution that regulates content on various social media platforms. The goal is to ensure that every content disseminated must be truly healthy, useful, and dignified for the development of national character.
The Rector of Universitas Esa Unggul (UEU), Dr. Ir. Arief Kusuma Among Praja, S.T., M.B.A., IPU, ASEAN Eng, when opening BC Fair 2024 expressed his concern about unqualified content on social media.
‘Today you get a good opportunity from KPI Centre to understand how to make healthy and quality content. Students must be able to make the most of this opportunity from the KPI Chair’s lecture,’ said Arief.
Ubaidillah, who was present as the main speaker of the public lecture, explained that the state must be present to regulate social media platforms. ‘The state must be present to regulate it, including the content presented,’ he said.
In this event, Ubaidillah also invited the younger generation to actively produce content that supports the nation’s progress, while maintaining ethics and social responsibility.
‘There is nothing that regulates social media yet. If there is a problem, the ITE Law will be used. We hope that there must be an institution that regulates social media, whoever the institution is, the important thing is that someone regulates it so that the quality of the content will be good too,’ hoped KPI Chair Ubaidillah, M.Pd.
Previously, the Dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences of Universitas Esa Unggul, Dr. Erna Febriani, S.Si., M.Si., together with the Chairman of the Central KPI, Ubaidillah, M.Pd., signed a cooperation agreement between the Central KPI and the Faculty of Communication Sciences of Universitas Esa Unggul at the Central KPI Office, Jalan Ir. Djuanda, Jakarta. This cooperation aims to improve the quality of broadcasting and the development of communication science in Indonesia.
