FIKOM ‘The Art of Confidence 2’: The Art of Film & Photography

esaunggul.ac.id Tangerang, 16 December 2024 – The Faculty of Communication Sciences (Fikom) of Universitas Esa Unggul held a workshop entitled ‘The Art of Confidence 2’, which took place lively on the campus of Universitas Esa Unggul Tangerang. This event aims to provide an in-depth understanding of the art of filmmaking and good photography techniques, presenting expert speakers in their fields.

This workshop was conducted in a hybrid way, so that participants could participate directly on campus or online through digital platforms. This format is designed to broaden the range of participation and provide flexibility for participants who are in different locations.

Welcome Speech by the Director of Operations of Universitas Esa Unggul Tangerang Campus

The event was officially opened by the Director of Operations of the Tangerang Campus, Universitas Esa Unggul, Dr. Dra. Dihin Septyanto, M.E., together with the Dean of the Faculty of Design and Creative Industries, Mr. Karna Mustaqim, S.Sn, M.A, Ph.D. In his speech, Dr. Dihin Septyanto conveyed the importance of visual skills in the modern world of communication.

‘Through this workshop, we hope students can hone their creativity and skills in the visual field to support their career development in the digital era,’ said Dr Dihin Septyanto.

The event, moderated by Dr Jatayu Hadi Prakoso, M.I.Kom, presented three competent speakers. The first session was filled by Mr Ahmad Fuad, S.Sn, M.Ds, M.Des, who discussed the basics of filmmaking and visual processing to create a strong story. The next session was followed by Mr Drs Teguh Imanto, M.Sn, who discussed shooting techniques and photography composition for professional results. In closing, Verdi Wahyuda shared his practical experience in the world of film production and photography, giving real insight to the participants.

The Rector of University of Esa Unggul, Dr Ir. Arief Kusuma Among Praja, ST, MBA, IPU, ASEAN Eng, also gave his response regarding this event. In his statement, he appreciated the faculty’s initiative in organising workshops that are relevant to current industry needs.

‘Workshops like this are very important to prepare students to compete in the creative industry era. It not only equips them with knowledge, but also trains their confidence and practical skills that are key to success in the world of work,’ he said.

Not only from internal universities, appreciation also came from Universitas Esa Unggul’s international partner, Arizona State University (ASU). In an online message, ASU’s representative, Prof Mark Johnson, expressed his support for the global education collaboration with the theme of creativity and technology.

‘Programmes like this show that Universitas Esa Unggul does not only focus on theoretical learning, but also creative innovation that is oriented towards the needs of the global industry. We are very pleased to see this extraordinary effort, and we hope to continue to establish a close partnership in the future,’ said Prof Johnson.

The workshop not only provided theory, but also involved hands-on practical sessions, so that participants could apply the knowledge they had gained. Students who attended, both offline and online, enthusiastically followed the whole series of events, asked questions, and discussed with the speakers.

By organising The Art of Confidence 2 workshop, Universitas Esa Unggul once again showed its commitment to equip students with relevant skills in the creative industry, while strengthening global relationships with international partners such as Arizona State University. The participants hope that similar events can continue to be held to hone the potential of the younger generation in their work.
