Esaunggul.ac.id – The Chairman of the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI), Ubaidillah, gave a public lecture at the Faculty of Communication Sciences (Fikom) of Universitas Esa Unggul, at the Kemala Ballroom, Esa Unggul Kebon Jeruk Campus, Jakarta. The event was opened by Esa Unggul Rector Dr. Ir. Arief Kusuma Among Praja, S.T., M.B.A., IPU, ASEAN Eng, and is part of a series of Broadcasting EduFair activities, which aims to increase students’ understanding of the world of broadcasting.

In the public lecture themed “The Role of the Young Generation in Making Broadcasting Healthy, Dignified, and Useful”, Ubaidillah emphasized the importance of the young generation’s contribution in creating and disseminating quality broadcast content. “Broadcasting must be a tool that educates the nation, strengthens national integration, and promotes the welfare of society. The young generation has a strategic role in ensuring this is achieved,” said Ubaidillah.

He also revealed the big challenge faced by KPI, which is overseeing 2,895 broadcasting institutions across Indonesia. This task is becoming increasingly complex with the development of digital media platforms, which requires KPI to continuously adapt to technological changes and social dynamics.

Furthermore, Ubaidillah explained the importance of broadcasting literacy, both for the general public and the younger generation, to increase awareness of quality broadcast content. He invited students to actively collaborate with KPI in creating a healthy and beneficial broadcasting ecosystem.

Separately, Dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Esa Unggul, Dr. Erna Febriani S.Si., M.Si explained that the public lecture is an academic activity held to provide insight to lecturers and students from public figures or experts in their fields. “With the presence of KPI Head, we hope that lecturers and students will get insights to help the government realize healthy, useful and beneficial broadcasting”.

The event was attended by hundreds of students, lecturers, and communication practitioners, who enthusiastically participated in the discussion and question and answer session. Participants gained insights on how to become agents of change in the broadcasting industry and face the challenges of the digital era.
