Esaunggul.ac.id, The Rector of Esa Unggul, Dr. Ir. Arief Kusuma Among Praja, ST, MBA, IPU, ASEAN Eng, made an official visit to the Office of the Ministry of Trade, Jakarta, on Monday, 9 December 2024. The visit aimed to introduce the Tridharma of Higher Education programmes and activities carried out by Universitas Esa Unggul, which include education, research, and community service.
In a warm meeting, Dr Arief Kusuma Among Praja explained various initiatives being implemented by Universitas Esa Unggul, including the development of educational and research innovations that are expected to make a positive contribution to the progress of Indonesia’s trade sector. The Rector also revealed that universities have a strategic role in supporting government policies in various sectors, including trade.
On the same occasion, the Minister of Trade, Dr. Budi Santoso, M.Si., used this meeting to introduce three priority programmes being promoted by the Ministry of Trade. The three programmes are securing the domestic market, expanding the export market, and improving MSMEs through the BISA Export programme.
Budi explained that domestic market security aims to maintain the stability of prices and supply of goods in Indonesia, so that there is no scarcity that can affect people’s purchasing power. The export market expansion programme is expected to open new opportunities for Indonesian products to penetrate international markets and increase Indonesia’s competitiveness in the global arena.
Equally important is the BISA Export programme, which aims to empower Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to access international markets more easily and effectively. According to the Trade Minister, this programme is expected to improve the quality and capacity of Indonesian MSME products, so that they can compete in an increasingly tight export market.

Budi stated that cooperation between universities and ministries is very important in realising these priority programmes. He hoped that Esa Unggul University could provide support through research and service relevant to the trade sector, as well as helping to produce competent human resources in the fields of economics and trade.
‘Collaboration between the government and the world of education is needed to create an ecosystem that is conducive to the progress of Indonesian trade. We hope Esa Unggul University can contribute more in encouraging the capacity building of MSMEs and expanding Indonesia’s export market,’ he said.
This visit is expected to be the first step in building synergy between the Ministry of Trade and Universitas Esa Unggul, as well as opening up opportunities for further cooperation that will support strategic programmes for the advancement of the Indonesian economy.
