Esaunggul.ac.id, Nusantara Permai School, located at Jalan Pluit Karang Barat Blok O – VI No. 1B – 1C, Muara Karang, North Jakarta, successfully organised an event entitled ‘Dare to Speak: Public Speaking Event’. The event presented two inspiring speakers, Malabay, S.Kom, M.Kom from the Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Esa Unggul and Dr Ria Saraswati, M.Hum, a public speaking expert. The workshop, which took place on Monday, 9 December 2024, was attended by students and teachers at Nusantara Permai School.
The event was opened by the Principal of Nusantara Permai School, Nina Susanti, M.Pd, who in her speech emphasised the importance of communication skills in the modern era. ‘The ability to speak in public and utilise technology is a very important combination for our young generation to compete in the global world,’ said Nina.
The first speaker, Malabay, S.Kom, M.Kom, presented material on the role of technology in communication and presentation in the digital era. ‘In the digital era, the ability to utilise tools such as PowerPoint, video, and social media can increase the effectiveness of communication and strengthen presentations,’ he said. Malabay also provided practical tips on the use of technology to attract the attention of the audience, so that the presentation becomes more dynamic and interesting.

Dr Ria Saraswati, M.Hum, served as the second speaker and discussed public speaking skills. ‘Public speaking is not just about speaking, but how we can convey messages clearly, confidently, and be able to influence the audience,’ Dr Ria explained. She also held interactive practice sessions to help students overcome nerves and build confidence when speaking in public.
The event received positive responses from students and teachers. One student revealed, ‘I learnt a lot, especially how technology can help my presentation look more professional, and the public speaking tips from Dr Ria really helped me be more confident.’
This activity is expected to be the first step for students to develop essential communication skills in the future, while preparing them to face challenges in a globalised world.
