Esaunggul.ac.id – The habit of procrastinating is often called “Procrastination”. Some work that can be done immediately is finally delayed due to self-will or a condition. For students, procrastination is often the main enemy that hinders daily productivity. The growing feeling of comfort comes from the many choices of more enjoyable activities, such as socializing or using social media. While this is perceived as a way of reducing pressure, in reality, procrastination occurs and leads to stress later on because the task or work is postponed while the submission deadline is approaching.
Feelings of anxiety or fear of failure are one of the reasons students tend to procrastinate. There are tasks that are considered difficult or too big often make students feel depressed, so they choose to put it off for a while. Then, this is exacerbated by the lack of good time management, eventually the remaining time runs out without realizing it. More than just postponing tasks or work, but also avoiding the uncomfortable feelings that are present when dealing with a challenge either academically or in life.
The habit of lacking discipline in time management also influences students to procrastinate. Students who are not certain and organized will feel confused about the priority of things that must be done. When time is not well organized, it makes tasks or work pile up and students become overwhelmed. Eventually, they are more likely to put off the task or work. Thus, it is very important for students to understand the importance of managing time and the right and effective strategies to avoid procrastination.

The best way to avoid procrastination is through a systematic and consistent approach. Here are some effective ways you can do this,
1. Create an Organized Schedule
Determine the exact time to do each task or activity, including breaks. Set priorities for tasks or activities, such as doing something urgent and difficult first.
2. Break Large Tasks into Small Parts
Large tasks usually have a longer deadline than other tasks. Therefore, the task can be done in installments, such as when making a report, you can start with a background draft and then proceed to the next section. Tasks that are done in installments must be done consistently so that they can be completed on time and the pressure due to stress is reduced.
3. Using the Frog Technique
One technique that can be done to avoid procrastination is the Frog Technique, which is to make a list of tasks to be done by dividing them into several categories, namely:
Activities that must be done, you have the desire to do it.
Activities that must be done, you have no desire to do it.
Activities that you don’t have to do, you have no desire to do.
Activities that you don’t have to do, you have the desire to do.
Then, determine the ugliest “Frog” based on the predetermined categories. An inedible frog means the task will be done. Starting with the worst “Frog” and ending with the best “Frog”.
4. Creating a Comfortable and Conducive Environment
A crowded and noisy environment can lead to procrastination. You can do this by ensuring that you are free from distractions such as cell phones, television, or other noises. Choose a place that is quiet and comfortable and avoid distractions.
5. Recognizing and Overcoming the Causes of Procrastination
Procrastination is often associated with feelings of failure, anxiety, or low motivation. In order to avoid this, it is important to recognize the underlying causes of procrastination. This can be done by changing your perspective, focusing on the little things, and reminding yourself of the benefits and satisfaction you will get when you avoid procrastination.
