Jakarta, February 5th, 2025 – Universitas Esa Unggul (UEU) proudly held a seminar and inauguration of the Pharmacist Professional Education Study Program which took place in a hybrid manner at Kemala Ballroom, Jakarta. The event was attended by various parties who play an active role in the development of pharmaceutical education and the health sector. The inauguration began with a report from the Chief Executive of the Pharmacist Professional Education Study Program, Dr. Sri Teguh, S.Farm, M.Farm, Apt, who said that this study program aims to prepare professional pharmacists who are able to provide the best health services through superior education and integrated with the development of industrial technology.
The event continued with remarks by the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Universitas Esa Unggul , Prof. Dr. Aprilita Rina Yanti Eff, M.Biomed., Apt, emphasizing the importance of quality pharmaceutical education as one of the pillars in creating competent health workers. Furthermore, the speech and official opening of the event was conducted by the Vice Rector for Cooperation and Development, Dr. Rilla Gantino, SE, Ak, MM. In her speech, Dr. Rilla Gantino expressed great hope that this study program can contribute to society and the development of an increasingly relevant pharmacist profession.
The seminar session began with a presentation from the first speaker, Apt. Noffendru Roestam, S.Si, as the Chairperson of the Indonesian Pharmacists Association (IAI), who was represented by the IAI Team with the theme “Challenges for Pharmacists in the Digital Era: Maintaining the Quality of Health Services”. In this session, the IAI Team explained how digital technology can help improve efficiency in pharmaceutical services, from the medicine preparation process to distribution to patients. Although technology is growing, he emphasized that pharmacists still have an important role in ensuring the quality of service is maintained.
Then, the second session of the seminar was delivered by Apt. Pre Agusta Siswantoro, MBA, Commissioner of PT Enseval Putra Megatrading Tbk, with the theme “The Role and Career Opportunities of Pharmacists in the World of Work”. He revealed that pharmacists not only play a role in hospitals or pharmacies, but also have great opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry and other fields that are growing rapidly. In addition, pharmacists can create new job opportunities through business ventures that are relevant and according to their expertise.
The seminar was closed by presenting Apt. Rudi Safarudin, S.Si., M.Farm, M.Epid, Ph.D., from the University of Houston, Texas, USA, who spoke about “Pharmacist Profession in Foreign Countries”. Rudi explained the development of the pharmacist profession abroad, as well as the importance of pharmacists to continue to adapt to technological developments and provide optimal health services in various parts of the world. The pharmacist profession continues to collaborate with other professions in the health domain to create the best service to patients.
The Rector of Universitas Esa Unggul, Dr. Ir. Arief Kusuma A.P., ST, MBA, IPU, ASEAN Eng, said, “Through the presence of the Pharmacist Profession study program, we hope that Universitas Esa Unggul will contribute to the development of the Pharmacist Profession in Indonesia. The health and pharmaceutical sector continues to grow, as a higher education institution we have a responsibility to prepare pharmacists who are ready to face challenges and provide health services.”
