Esaunggul.ac.id, In order to commemorate the 26th anniversary of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Esa Unggul University held an event entitled “FIKOM On Air x Tirto Class: Gen Z for Sustainable Development Goals”. This event was a collaboration between the Faculty of Communication Sciences of Esa Unggul University, Tirto Class, and KB Bank, which was held on Monday, June 16, 2025 at 08.00-12.00 WIB at Kemala Ballroom, Esa Unggul University.
More than 300 students attended this activity which aims to form a young generation that is responsive to global issues, financially intelligent, and able to adapt in the digital era.
The event was opened with remarks from the Dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Esa Unggul University, Dr. Erna Febriani, S.Si, M.Si, who hoped that this activity would not only aim as a forum for competition and education, but also as a form of real encouragement for the younger generation to actively voice social issues. Through creative platforms such as podcasts and public discussions, students are expected to be able to play a role in sustainable social change.
“We want students to not only be academically smart, but also have the courage to voice ideas, think critically, and be creative in addressing SDGs issues. Hopefully, they will be able to be part of the change, actively contributing through social media and public communication spaces,” said Dr. Erna Febriani.

All of these activities also received direct attention from the Rector of Esa Unggul University, Dr. Ir. Arief Kusuma Among Praja, ST, MBA, IPU, ASEAN Eng, who expressed his appreciation for FIKOM’s initiative in building awareness of the younger generation towards sustainability and the role of the media.
“We strongly support initiatives that combine education, creativity, and social advocacy. Generation Z must be empowered as agents of change, and activities like this are clear evidence that students can take a strategic role in encouraging the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals,” he said.
The agenda continued with a talk show themed “Financially Intelligent Student Solutions”, presenting Yuni Astuti as Independent Financial Advisor and Viddy H’ning Kirana as Branch Head, KB Bank Sales and Distribution Division. This session invited participants to understand the importance of financial literacy in planning for a sustainable future.

The event then featured the finalists of the Solo Podcast Competition, who voiced their opinions on SDGs issues in an original and inspiring way. The participants came from various universities in Jakarta.
The competition was judged by a panel of professional judges from various backgrounds:

- Amar Nugraha, S.Sos., M.I.Kom – Lecturer of FIKOM Esa Unggul University
- Dr. Legisan Samtafsir, M.Ag. – Founder of Greatness Consulting & Podcaster
From the judging, the three best winners were determined:
- 1st place: Caroline Sumartonjo – Bina Nusantara University
- 2nd place: Saskia Khairunnisa – Multimedia Nusantara University
- 3rd place: Aurin Katerina Herlin – Esa Unggul University

After the competition, the event continued with a talk show themed “Media Business Industry” with Rachmadin Ismail as Chief Editor of Tirto.id and Indriati Yulistiani, S.Sos., M.Si as Vice Dean of FIKOM Esa Unggul University, moderated by Ikbal Rachmat, ST, MT. This discussion discussed the role of media in the era of digital disruption and the importance of Gen Z’s courage to be involved in the creative world.

The activity was closed by handing over prizes and certificates to the winners as well as a photo session with the jury and the finalists and FIKOM Esa Unggul University.
