Esaunggul.ac.id, The University Esa Unggul lecturers were invited to be judges at the Indonesian Language and Literature Skills Competition (LKBBI) organised by the Indonesian Language Subject Teachers Association (MGMP) of Junior High School Region 1 West Jakarta.
The purpose of this competition is to foster students’ interest and ability in Indonesian language and at the same time introduce them to the rich and diverse types of Indonesian literature. The competition, which took place at SMP Negeri 45 Jakarta, was opened by Ariyadih, S.Pd., chairperson of the committee, and Sulasih, M.Pd., chairperson of the West Jakarta Region I MGMP. Then, Diding Wahyudin, S.Pd., M.Si., Head of Region I Education Office of West Jakarta Administrative City, gave a briefing.
The five University Esa Unggul lecturers who were invited to be judges are competent in Indonesian Literature Education and Art Education. Silvia Ratna Juwita, M.Pd.; Lisna Hikmawaty, M.Pd.; Ezik Firmansyah, M.Pd.; Dewi Sari Sumitro, S.S., M.Pd.; and Khusnul Fathonah, M.Pd. Among the eleven competitions held, the lecturers also judged scientific article writing, comic strip writing, poetry writing, news reading, and storytelling.
By becoming judges, lecturers can provide objective and constructive assessments as well as provide more insight to participants about the importance of good and correct mastery of Indonesian literature. This will certainly build more insight for participants, especially the winners of the activity competition to become representatives of the Indonesian Language and Literature Skills Competition (LKBBI) at the Jakarta level.
The representative of Universitas Esa Unggul lecturer, Silvia Ratna Juwita, M.Pd., expressed her appreciation and enthusiasm with the holding of this competition. ‘We really appreciate the initiative of MGMP Bahasa Indonesia Junior High School Region 1 West Jakarta, which has provided a platform for students to show their creativity and talent. May this activity continue to inspire and motivate us all to continue to love our mother tongue,’ she said.
The students loved this competition and welcomed it with great pleasure. They have the opportunity to showcase their best skills in Indonesian, from writing, speaking, drawing and mastering literature. This can foster a sense of love for Indonesian literature. The accompanying teacher also hopes that this competition will encourage students to better understand Indonesian in formal and non-formal contexts.
This event not only serves to provide assessment but also to increase cooperation between educators, especially Indonesian language teachers and lecturers in the West Jakarta area. In addition, this activity is part of the lecturers’ community service (PkM) implementation.
By conducting this activity, educators will have the opportunity to exchange experiences and approaches to teaching students Indonesian literature. Activities like this are also expected to improve learning methods and improve the quality of teaching in junior high schools, especially in terms of mastering good and correct language skills.
Many parties supported this competition, including the parents of the students, who were present to give encouragement and appreciation to their children who competed. With this event, it is hoped that the spirit of togetherness and cooperation between teachers, students, and the surrounding community will remain. This will help create a generation that is virtuous, talented, and proud to use Indonesian as a means of communication.
