The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Esa Unggul University held a guest lecture themed “Career Pathways for English Education Graduates: From Classrooms to Global Industries” on Thursday, July 3, 2025. The event, which took place in Room 207 of the Esa Unggul University campus, was attended by students of the English Education Study Program and academicians.
The guest lecture which lasted for 3.5 hours was divided into several sessions, starting at 12.30 to 16.00 WIB. The event opened with registration of participants and the showing of the Safety Induction video, then continued with the official opening guided by MC Kevin Afizeno.
After singing the national anthem Indonesia Raya and reading the prayer, participants watched the Company Profile of Esa Unggul University in collaboration with Arizona State University. Dr. Imam Santosa, S.Pd., M.Pd., as the Head of English Education Study Program, gave opening remarks before the event was handed over to the moderator Dr. Irma Savitri Sadikin, M.Pd.
This guest lecture presented two speakers who represented various career paths of English Education graduates. The first speaker, Stephanie Fahra Caroline, S.Pd, M.Pd, who is an English teacher at SMA Bhakti Mulya 400, shared her experience in developing effective learning materials for real classrooms.
Meanwhile, the second speaker, Dery Rovino, S.Pd, who currently serves as a Manager at Grab, provided insight into the career opportunities of English Education graduates in the global industry outside the traditional teaching field.
After the presentation of the material from the two speakers, the event continued with a discussion and question and answer session for 40 minutes. This session provided a valuable opportunity for participants to interact directly with the speakers and dig deeper into the various career aspects that had been presented.
This guest lecture aims to provide students of the English Education Study Program with a comprehensive overview of the various career paths that can be pursued after graduation. In addition to focusing on traditional professions as educators, the event also explored opportunities in global industries that require English language expertise.
By presenting practitioners from the fields of education and industry, it is hoped that students can gain valuable insights to prepare their future careers more strategically and purposefully. This event is proof of FKIP Esa Unggul University’s commitment in preparing its graduates to face the challenges of an increasingly competitive and diverse world of work.
The Rector of Esa Unggul University, Dr. Ir. Arief Kusuma Among Praja, ST, MBA, IPU, ASEAN Eng, welcomed this guest lecture. “We are very proud of FETT’s initiative in presenting the best practitioners from various fields. Guest lectures like this are very important to open students’ insights that English Education graduates have very broad career opportunities, not only as teachers but also in various sectors of the global industry,” he said.
Furthermore, he emphasized that Esa Unggul University is committed to continue presenting programs that can bridge the academic world with the industrial world. “Our collaboration with Arizona State University and various industry partners allows students to gain a global perspective that will be very valuable in developing their careers,” he added.
