Optimism refers to how a person conduct his or her positive attitude toward of certain event or condition. Academic achievement refers to the result achieved from cognitive study activities which commonly stated for the students by the measurement and evaluation of their performance on a study report form that wiil bw given at each of the end of semester.
This research is aimed to discover the correlation between the optimism and academic achievement of grade 6th students of Saint Mary Elementary School at Cirebon. Thirty eight of grade 6th students of Saint Mary Elementary School at Cirebon are involved as the subject of this research. To gather the data, researcher used the Questionaire form.
Then the obtained data were correlated in Person Product Moment Technique of correlation, which processed using the SPSS (Statistical Packages for Social Sciences) version 12.00. The result of research shows that there is no significant correlation between the optimism and academic achievement (study report data) of elementary school students rxy (36)= 0,145, p > 0,05.
