Repair Of Layout Inner Assembling Line To Optimize Production Balances Using Ranked Position Weight Method

Description:

Refrigerator is one of the products of the PMI company where the company produces household electronic goods. Refrigerator production process was done on inner assembling line. Based on observation of problems which often occur in inner assembling production line was too high takt time in the production process and not optimal balance of inner assembling production line. This problems cause a lot of work in process, inventory in process and the number of reject products. The aim of this research is to optimize the balance of inner assembling line by arranging layout of inner assembling line production and reducing takt time in production line. The used method is ranked position weight and simulation system for layout improvement. The result showed that the inner assembling line efficiency increased from 49.95% to 81.56%. Furthermore, after the repairing layout, this process could eliminate the cost of using a regular machine every month of Rp. 30,888,000 – that was the cost of overhead conveyor machine which no longer exists. The results were implemented and expected to increase production capacity and to reduce the company’s production costs.
