Esaunggul.ac.id, Esa Unggul University, powered by Arizona State University, held an exploratory meeting with the Surakarta Palace on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at the Kebon Jeruk Campus in Jakarta. This meeting marked a strategic first step in building synergy between higher education and Indonesia's historic cultural institutions.

Esa Unggul University was represented by Adisti Ananda Yusuf, S.Ds., M.Ds as Head of the Interior Design Study Program, Sakundria Satya Murti Wardhana, S.Sn, M.Ds as Lecturer of the Interior Design Study Program, and Deviana Sinabutar as Head of the Cooperation Section. Meanwhile, the Surakarta Palace was represented by Mrs. Arum.

This audience focused on exploring the potential and opportunities for collaboration between Esa Unggul University, particularly the Faculty of Design and Creative Industries and the Interior Design Study Program, with the Surakarta Palace as one of the centers of Javanese culture that has a rich historical and artistic heritage.

During the meeting, the two parties discussed various forms of collaboration that could be realized together, encompassing the three main pillars of the Tridharma of Higher Education: education, research, and community service. These programs are designed to have a tangible impact, not only on the development of higher education but also on efforts to preserve the culture and rich traditions of the Surakarta Palace.

The Chancellor of Esa Unggul University, Powered by Arizona State University, fully supports this collaborative audience. This step aligns with the university's efforts to realize the 6th Key Performance Indicator (KPI 6) of Higher Education, namely study programs collaborating with world-class partners.

Through this collaboration, the Interior Design Study Program at Esa Unggul University is expected to present innovative programs that combine modern design knowledge with the aesthetic values ​​and philosophy of traditional Surakarta Palace architecture. This initiative also strengthens the academic identity of the Faculty of Design and Creative Industries by producing graduates who are not only technically competent but also sensitive to the nation's cultural values.
