Effect of Health Education Training on Nurse Competence and Patient Satisfaction in the Treatment Room of Syarif Hidayatullah Hospital

This study aims to analyze the effect of health education on improving nurse competence and patient satisfaction.The subjects of this study were nurses and patients in the treatment room of Syarif Hidayatullah Hospital starting November – December 2017. Nurse sampling technique, total sampling, and sampling of patients were using Slovin method. The variables in this study are nurse competencies as independent variables and patient satisfaction as the dependent variable where nurses receive experimental treatment of health education training. Nurse competency assessment instrument with pre and post test method consisting of 27 instruments for knowledge questions, and 12 attitude and skill dimension competency statements (through observation during training simulation). Patient assessment instruments have 22 questionnaires with Likert scale. Analysis using Dependent t test, Regression test and Mancova. The results showed that: (1) Health Education Training has a significant positive effect on the competence of nurses, (2) Nurses ‘knowledge and skills competencies have no effect on patient satisfaction, while nurses’ attitudes affect patient satisfaction (3) Health education training does not affect patient satisfaction, (4) Characteristics of nurse’s age, length of work, education do not affect the competence of nurses, while gender and training affect the competence of nurses.
