Development of Indonesian Traditional Culture Knowledge Media Through Industrial Creative Film Documenters

One effort to spread knowledge and understanding of Indonesian traditional culture, through a form of documentary audio visual presentation. Documentary films as recording media are able to present facts that have historical value for a nation’s civilization. The documentary is a creative treatment of actuality which is always interesting to understand, starting from the content of the story and its creation in this research, especially related to the wisdom of local culture in Indonesia. This study has the aim of knowing the perspective of film industry actors on documentary films as a medium for developing knowledge of Indonesian traditional culture and how the role of documentary films is an effective medium for the strength of Indonesian local culture and tradition, one of which is dance art. The method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative approach by taking a purposive sampling method, with an early stage case study on the documentary film festival activities of the ministry of education and culture which also combines exploratory studies. The results of this study that technology exists because of a culture that has existed for
a long time, because that is the culture and technology of interdependence, so that documentary films are used as a medium by creative industry players in developing traditional knowledge in Indonesia.
