Culture Transition And Students Eating Behavior In Jakarta

Background. Cultural transition often results in culture shock, the experience is different due to cultural variation factors, the greater the cultural differences that individuals have with new cultures, the greater the culture shock experienced. Culture shock is a psychological condition that is negative in nature where individuals feel unable to deal with different cultural environments that can affect individual eating behavior. The aims of this study is analyzing the relation of cultural transition on students eating behavior in Jakarta. Method. This study uses a cross-sectional design with purposive sampling conducted on 57 students who has been studying in Jakarta and come from outside Java. Research result. The results showed that 57.9% of respondents experienced culture shock and 42.1% of respondents did not experience culture shock. As many as 54.4% of respondents have good eating behavior and 45.6% of respondents have bad eating behavior. Conclusion. The culture shock factor is not significantly related to the adaptation behavior of students eating behavior in Jakarta.
